Router Configuration Service

We configure your routers and gateways to your specification before they ship, so your devices arrive ready to install.

Why Configure with Millbeck

With more than 20 years in mobile communications, we configure your hardware to your specification and check it before dispatch, so your rollout starts from a consistent, ready-to-install base.

Less Time On Site

Devices arrive configured to your spec, so your field engineers connect and install rather than setting up each unit from scratch in the field.

Consistent Every Time

Every device gets the same agreed configuration, so your rollout stays uniform whether you deploy ten units or a thousand.

Faster Rollouts

With setup done before dispatch, hardware is ready the moment it arrives, shortening the time from order to live.

Configure Once, Reuse Anytime

Define a configuration once and reference it by its Configuration ID on every future order, with no need to re-specify settings each time.

Router Configuration Service

Millbeck configure your routers and gateways to your specification before they ship, so devices arrive ready to install. You define a configuration once, we apply it to every order, and you reference it by a single Configuration ID.

Deploying connected hardware across multiple sites takes time on the ground. Our Router Configuration Service prepares each device before dispatch, applying the settings you specify so your field teams can install quickly and consistently. It is built for organisations rolling out routers and gateways at scale who want a repeatable, standardised starting point on every unit.

Hardware Configured and Ready to Install

We apply your chosen configuration to each device before it leaves us, reducing the setup work needed on site.

Each unit is configured to the specification you provide, checked to confirm the configuration has loaded, and a backup of the applied settings is kept on file. Your engineers receive hardware that is ready to connect and install, rather than blank devices that need configuring in the field.

How the Service Works

You set the service up once, then reference your configuration on as many future orders as you need.

Step 1: Agree the Service Terms

You sign the service terms and conditions once. These stay in place for the life of the account and do not need re-signing for each order.

Step 2: Complete a Configuration Form

For each unique configuration, you complete and sign a Configuration Form that captures every setting for the device. We assign it a unique Configuration ID. A separate form is needed for each distinct configuration, and any change to a configuration needs a new form.

Step 3: Order Using Your Configuration ID

Once a configuration is agreed, you quote its Configuration ID on any future order and we apply those settings to the devices before dispatch. One configuration can be reused across as many orders as you like.

Two Ways to Supply Your Configuration

You can provide your configuration in whichever way suits your team:

  • Option A: Supply your own backup configuration file. We load it directly onto the device before dispatch. You also tell us the firmware version it was built on.
  • Option B: We build the configuration from the details on your Configuration Form.

Passwords and credentials are never captured on the form. They are shared separately through a secure method.

What We Can Configure

The Configuration Form covers the settings most rollouts need, from connectivity to access control.

  • Mobile and SIM settings, including APN address, authentication type, and APN credentials
  • Wi-Fi settings, including whether Wi-Fi is enabled, the SSID name, and a hidden SSID
  • Device access control for LAN and WAN, including HTTPS, HTTP, and SSH access and port numbers
  • Firewall rules, including a WAN IP whitelist (remote IP filter) and whether to allow ping from WAN
  • Network settings, including LAN IP and subnet and the DHCP range
  • Port forwarding rules
  • Ping Reboot (ICMP watchdog) to reconnect the device automatically if it drops its connection
  • WebUI and SSH access credentials, shared securely rather than on the form

Supported Hardware

The service covers the main router and gateway brands we supply.

We configure devices from Teltonika, Proroute, Robustel, and Milesight, along with similar routers and gateways.

Who the Service Is For

The service suits teams deploying multiple devices who can specify their own configuration.

It is a good fit if you roll out routers or gateways across several sites and want a standardised, repeatable setup on each unit. It assumes you have the in-house capability to define a secure configuration, and field engineers who can install the hardware and handle basic connectivity checks on site.

Need More Than Configuration?

If you need support beyond configuration, we can quote for it separately.

We can provide managed router services, ongoing support and SLAs, monitoring, lifecycle management, security audits, and on-site or remote install support as separately quoted services. Speak to our team about what your rollout needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the configuration service cost?

Configuration is quoted per order, based on the device and the configuration involved. Contact our team for a quote.

Can I reuse a configuration across multiple orders?

Yes. Each configuration is given a Configuration ID that you can reference on as many future orders as you need, without completing a new form each time.

What happens if I need to change a configuration?

Any change to a configuration requires a new Configuration Form, which is assigned its own Configuration ID. This keeps each configuration version clear and traceable.

Do you keep a copy of my configuration?

Yes. After configuring, we save a backup file of the applied settings and keep it on file.

How are passwords and credentials handled?

Passwords and credentials are never recorded on the Configuration Form. They are shared separately through a secure method.
