Why Source Hardware From Millbeck
Buying connected hardware is rarely just about the device. The right router with the wrong antenna fails. The right antenna in the wrong position underperforms. The right pair of both, sourced without a relationship that lets you escalate when something goes wrong, leaves you stuck when the deployment hits a problem the manufacturer's documentation does not cover. Millbeck has spent 25 years specialising in business cellular hardware, and the way we sell reflects what actually goes wrong on real deployments rather than what looks tidy on a product datasheet.
Strong vendor relationships. We work closely with the manufacturers of the hardware we sell. These relationships give us early access to new product launches, firmware roadmaps, direct technica support, and commercial terms that are not always available through general distribution.
Stock held in the UK, ready to despatch. We hold meaningful stock of the most-deployed router, gateway, antenna, and accessory lines at our UK warehouse. For projects where time-to-deploy matters, that is the difference between a customer going live this week and waiting four to six weeks for hardware to arrive from a manufacturer's central warehouse.
Pre-configuration before despatch. We can pre-configure routers, gateways, and switches before they leave us: APNs set, VPN configured, remote management enrolled, firmware upgraded, ready to power up on site. For multi-site rollouts this removes a substantial part of the on-site engineering burden and reduces the risk of inconsistent configuration across an estate.
Antenna and RF advice as standard. Antenna selection is a common reason cellular deployments underperform, and it is rarely the first thing buyers think about. We will help you specify the right antenna for the band, environment, and mounting position before the order goes out, rather than after a site visit reveals it was wrong.
One supplier across hardware and connectivity. Where the deployment needs SIMs as well as hardware, we supply both as a single bundled solution: router, antenna, IoT or mobile broadband SIM, pre-configured and ready to connect. That gives one point of accountability for the whole connectivity stack rather than three suppliers pointing at each other when something does not work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy hardware through a distributor, or can I go direct to the manufacturer?
In most cases, manufacturers work exclusively through authorised distribution partners rather than selling directly to end users. That’s where Millbeck comes in. With extensive local stock holding and deep expertise in connectivity hardware, we provide fast access to trusted products alongside the insight needed to deliver the right solution.
While individual manufacturers typically focus on a specific part of the connectivity ecosystem, Millbeck brings everything together, combining devices, networks, and integration expertise to create a complete, reliable connectivity solution tailored to your needs.
Can Millbeck pre-configure routers and gateways before despatch?
Yes. We routinely pre-configure devices with APN settings, VPN credentials, remote management enrolment, custom firmware, and any other configuration the deployment requires. For multi-site rollouts this is the standard way we ship: identical units, configured consistently, ready to power up on site without engineer input.
What is the lead time on stocked items?
For models we hold in stock, same-day or next-day despatch is normal for orders placed before mid-afternoon. For non-stocked items or items with custom configuration, lead times depend on the manufacturer and the work involved. We will confirm a realistic timeline at quote stage rather than after the order is placed.
Do you supply hardware without SIMs, or is connectivity bundled?
Either. We supply hardware on its own where the customer already has SIMs in place, and we supply hardware with SIMs as a bundled solution where the customer prefers a single source.
Can you advise on antenna selection for a specific site?
Yes, and this is one of the more useful things we do. Antenna choice depends on the cellular band, the environment, the mounting position, and the building or vehicle structure around it. Tell us where the device is going and what it is connecting to, and we can specify the right antenna before you order, rather than after a borderline-coverage site has already gone live.
How do I choose between vendors when the spec sheets look similar?
Spec sheets rarely tell you the things that matter most: how stable the firmware is in real deployments, how good the manufacturer's UK support is, how easy the device is to configure across a fleet, and how well the hardware survives the environment it is installed in. We have direct experience deploying every brand we sell, and we will give you a straight answer on which one fits your specific use case rather than the one we have most stock of.
